Luang Prabang Bakery
Contrary to the name Laung Prabang Bakery is not in Luang Prabang, it is in Vang Vieng and definitely belongs on this list. Though, if you are feeling like something sweet out of the display cabinet there is also a menu that has Western and Asian favorites.
Seriously the prices here are pretty affordable. You can get an excellent morning coffee for your caffeine fix before you hit the blue lagoons Vang Vieng is famous for. From cheesecakes, cakes, pastries, sandwiches and more! Of course, it is not going to be good as a French bakery in France. Though thanks to the high French influence in Laos cooking it is pretty damn close. One Of The Local Restaurants
There are some excellent local restaurants in Vang Vieng that aren’t listed online. If you are like me and just enjoy well eggs cooked with love for breakfast and don’t need anything too fancy then these restaurants are a great option. They are cheap, cheerful and the majority of times playing friends on the televisions around the restaurant, what more could you want!
Oftentimes these locally-owned restaurants can be some of the best of the bunch. They have been around for a long time catering for us travelers and they know what we like. If you are backpacking Laos on a budget these locally run eateries will be a great option throughout your travels.

Happy Mango Thai Restaurant has been a favorite of travelers visiting Vang Vieng. This place seems to always be busy. Offering affordable, flavorful meals keeps the customers constantly coming back for more. Also, who can say no to Thai food!
Popular dishes include pad thai, pineapple fried rice and mango sticky rice. If you are craving Thai food this is your best bet and is said to be one of the best Thai restaurants in Laos. Location: Middle Street, Vang Vieng
I found Bamboo Tree on my most recent trip to Vang Vieng and visited on a few different occasions during my stay. Located on the main street it was really easy to find. I was actually surprised to see how underrated it was on TripAdvisor because at night this place gets PACKED.
They do a lot of Laos eats as well as Western favorites. My partner fell in love with the satay tofu burger here and he is usually a full-on meat-eater. They have choices for vegans as well, something which can be rather difficult to find in Asia due to fish sauce and oyster sauce commonly being used. If you really want to go all out they also offer hearty steaks here as well.

Garys Irish Bar
If you are missing a taste of home then I have saved the best for last. Garys Irish Bar seems to always be my first stop when visiting Vang Vieng. Seriously there’s nothing like a good roast and a chip buttie to cure that homesickness. This is a popular spot for young Western travelers and they are constantly playing decent music.
The food may be basic but it is so damn good. The guys working here are always up for a laugh and if you stay long even you’ll see this place turn from a day time restaurant to a full-on bar vibe. How could you say no to an Irish Pub in the middle of Laos? The answer is you cannot so get yourself here as well as the other spots on this where to eat in Vang Vieng list.
