However, there are ongoing discussions and efforts to potentially bring Uber back to Belize in the future, as both the company and the local authorities recognize the value it can bring to the transportation ecosystem.

But do not worry! Despite the absence of Uber, there are still plenty of reliable transportation options available in Belize that can make your travels around the country quick, convenient, and enjoyable which I will get into further down below.

The short answer is no, Lyft does not currently operate in Belize. However, there are other local transportation options available that can provide you with a similar ridesharing experience.

Additionally, some local car rental companies may offer chauffeur services with similar features to ridesharing platforms. While Lyft may not be available, there are still alternatives to help you get around and enjoy your time in Belize.

If you’re looking for a ride-hailing service similar to Uber, you might consider trying out Mi Dirva. It’s still relatively new but it provides a similar service to what Lyft or Uber Belize can’t in the country.

Designed to cater specifically to the Belizean market, Mi Dirva offers convenient car tracking and route monitoring features.

Keep in mind, however, that the service is primarily limited to urban areas, and cash payments are still required.

Despite these limitations, Mi Dirva can be a reliable option if you’re looking for an alternative transportation solution.

Luckily, there are plenty of other transportation options available in Belize. You can rent a car, take a taxi, book a shared shuttle, or use public transportation such as buses and water taxis.

Option 1. Shared Shuttle

Shared shuttles are a popular choice for travelers in Belize, as they offer a comfortable and cost-effective way to get around the country.

These shared vans can be found at most major tourist destinations and airports, providing convenient transportation options for visitors. Whether you’re heading to the stunning beaches of Placencia or exploring the ancient Maya ruins of Tikal, you can rely on these shared shuttles to take you there.

I often would travel around Belize using a shared shuttle. It is the easiest and stress-free option to get from A to B.

It’s the perfect choice if you’re traveling to or from the islands. I’ve used their services multiple times, including crossing from Belize to Mexico, and it has always been a smooth experience.

I didn’t use taxis too much in Belize only to travel short distances such as San Ignacio to the Guatemala border.
