I was lucky enough to be invited for a pre-opening sneak preview of the gorgeous Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty and to try lunch at their Thai Soul Restaurant. The official opening of the hotel was the 29th April 2018.

About The Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty

The Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty is perfect for a variety of travelers. With one of South India’s largest convention centers, five restaurants and a beautiful pool, no matter your needs they will be met here.

An easy 45 minute drive from the airport, as well as just 30 minutes to Fort Kochi you are in the middle of all the action.

Thanks to a good selection of rooms to choose from you can enjoy city or lake views while relaxing in bed. Featuring floor to ceiling windows, a full size desk and a bath tub in each room you will truly be living grand.

Dark wood mixed with golden accents is a common theme throughout the rooms, creating the ultimate luxurious feeling.

Thai Soul Restaurant

Located on the ground floor of the Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty, with high ceilings and warm wooden accents there is a very welcoming atmosphere. Large windows line one side of the restaurant featuring the view out to the pool and the lakeside which make the area feel very open.

The Thai Soul Restaurant brings the absolute best of Thai Food in Kochi right to your table. The complex flavors took me right back to eating in the markets in Thailand.

The chefs have managed to perfect the balance of sweet, spicy, sour and salty as well as adding their own upscale twist which is often associated with the Grand Hyatt brand.

With an open style kitchen you can see the fresh ingredients laid out in front and organised to perfection. The friendly team were happy to cater to our requests and it made for one of the best meals I had in Kochi.

Drinks

We began our delicious Thai experience with a delicious drink. A pineapple and cumber mocktail is the perfect way to refresh after being out under the hot Indian sun.

Starters

On the menu for our starters is “Po Pia Phak” Vegetable spring rolls,”Prik gai tood” fried chicken wings, “kanom jeeb gal” steamed chicken dumplings and”som tom jee” raw papaya salad.

Dishes are brought out one by one and we all share with each other. They are rich and vibrant with color and the raw papaya salad has the perfect spicy kick to it.

We also received a delicious bowl each of “tom ka phak” coconut soup with vegetables. I am not really a soup lover, but this was honestly amazing. It was wonderfully thick and creamy, filled right up with fresh vegetables.

Mains

After starters expectations were set high when it came to Thai food in Kochi. Lucky for us, the main meals did not disappoint.

On the table was “phad makao yao” raw eggplant with soya bean paste, “paneung nue” beef in paneung curry, “keang pa gai” clear chicken curry and “chu chi koong” tiger prawns with red curry sauce.

I could only eat one of the meals being vegetarian. Though, my wonderful friends had no problem telling me how amazing everything else was!

Alongside curry of course comes rice, and we were given two different options. “Khao phad kao” egg fried rice and “khao seuy” steamed jasmine rice. They were equally as delicious and reminded me of the perfectly cooked rice all over South East Asia which I can never replicate at home.

We also had a delicious noodle dish of “phad kee mao jee” stir fried spicy noodle, soya chunks, long beans. Another vegetarian dish with the perfect amount of heat.

Dessert

For dessert we had an assortment of delicious Thai desserts. They were very fruity with coconut and lychee tones. It was the perfect ending to such an amazing dining experience at the Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty.
